What is TB-500?
TB-500 is the N-terminally acetylated 17–23 fragment of thymosin beta-4. It is a seven-amino-acid peptide with the sequence Ac-LKKTETQ.
Is TB-500 the same as thymosin beta-4?
No. TB-500 is a seven-amino-acid fragment, while full-length thymosin beta-4 contains 43 amino acids. Human studies of full-length thymosin beta-4 should not be presented as human TB-500 studies.
What benefits of TB-500 are supported by research?
Direct evidence is mainly preclinical. A 2026 rat Achilles-tendon study reported favourable biomechanical and histological findings, while a 2024 fibroblast scratch assay found no significant wound-closure activity for parent TB-500 itself. There is no established human efficacy evidence for TB-500.
Has TB-500 been studied in humans?
FDA's 2026 evaluation reported that it had not identified published clinical studies or human exposure data for TB-500 itself. Human studies exist for full-length thymosin beta-4, which is a different molecule.
Does TB-500 help tendon healing?
A 2026 rat Achilles-tendon study reported improved maximum load to failure and histological scores with TB-500. The study was exploratory, used small numbers per endpoint and involved rats, so it does not establish tendon-healing effects in people.
What is the half-life of TB-500?
A validated human TB-500 half-life has not been established. An equine study found plasma concentrations peaked about one to two hours after administration and became unquantifiable after roughly six to ten hours, but horse data should not be presented as a human half-life.
What doses of TB-500 have been studied?
No verified human TB-500 dose was identified. Animal research has used study-specific protocols, including 60 micrograms/kg/day in a rat Achilles-tendon study and a single 10 mg administration in an equine detection study. These are animal research methods, not human dosing guidance.
What side effects does TB-500 cause?
Reliable human side-effect frequencies are not available because published human exposure data are lacking. FDA highlights unknown human safety, limited toxicology information and possible immunogenicity risks from peptide aggregation and impurities in injectable compounded products.
What is the evidence for TB-500 and BPC-157 together?
A 2026 rat Achilles-tendon study tested both peptides alone and together. The combination did not show an additional advantage over the individual peptide groups in that model. No controlled human combination trial was identified.
Is TB-500 banned in sport?
Yes under WADA rules. The 2026 Prohibited List explicitly names thymosin beta-4 and its derivatives, including TB-500, under S2.3. S2 substances are prohibited at all times.
Is the TB-500 ClinicalTrials.gov cardiovascular study real?
No. NCT07487363 is displayed in a ClinicalTrials.gov-style format, but its own official summary explicitly states that it is a fictional example study. It should not be counted as a genuine TB-500 clinical trial.
Why compare TB-500 products by price per mg rather than price per dose?
There is no established human TB-500 dose in the evidence reviewed. Price per mg compares labelled quantities without turning animal or laboratory research protocols into consumer dosing advice.
