What is CJC-1295 + ipamorelin?

The name describes a blend of two research compounds acting at different points of the growth-hormone axis: a CJC-related growth-hormone-releasing-hormone analogue and ipamorelin, a synthetic growth-hormone secretagogue. It is not a single molecule. The label is also chemically incomplete unless it states which CJC form is present, because the original CJC-1295 studied in the published literature carries an albumin-binding Drug Affinity Complex (DAC), while UK research listings commonly use 'CJC-1295 no DAC' for Modified GRF (1-29). [S1] [S4] [S10] [S18] [S19]

Do not infer the CJC form, component ratio or quantity from the category name alone. Those details must come from the individual product label and supporting analytical documentation. [S18] [S19]

Why DAC versus no-DAC matters

CJC-1295 was originally described as a tetrasubstituted hGRF(1-29) analogue carrying a reactive group designed to bind serum albumin, extending exposure. The accessible human CJC studies likewise describe a long-acting, albumin-binding compound. By contrast, the 2026 review treats 'CJC-1295 without DAC' or Modified GRF (1-29) as a separate evidence problem and reports no peer-reviewed human studies directly evaluating that form. [S1] [S2] [S3] [S10]

Label encounteredWhat can be said from the evidenceEvidence handling
CJC-1295 with DAC / original long-acting CJC-1295Albumin-binding GHRH analogue described in the original preclinical paper and human PK/PD studies.DAC-specific human PK/PD findings may be discussed only for this form. [S1] [S2] [S3]
CJC-1295 no DAC / Modified GRF (1-29)Commercially used name for a non-DAC modified GRF(1-29) material; direct peer-reviewed human evidence was not located by the 2026 review.Do not transfer the DAC half-life or human trial results to this form. [S10] [S18] [S19]
CJC-1295 + ipamorelin blendA two-component commercial description whose exact CJC form and component amounts vary by listing.Require explicit per-component identity and amount before comparison. [S18] [S19]

The category should not display one molecular formula, one sequence, one half-life or one 'CJC-1295' evidence summary as though every blend contains the same CJC entity. [S1] [S10]

What does the research show?

The evidence base is uneven. DAC-containing CJC-1295 has human endocrine PK/PD studies; ipamorelin has human PK/PD work and phase 2 gastrointestinal trials; no-DAC CJC-1295 has much weaker direct human support; and direct controlled evidence for the CJC-1295 + ipamorelin combination was not located. This means claims about the blend must not be assembled by adding together findings from separate ingredient studies. [S2] [S5] [S6] [S10]

DAC-containing CJC-1295

Randomised, placebo-controlled studies in healthy adults found prolonged GH and IGF-1 elevation and an estimated half-life of 5.8–8.1 days. These were endocrine PK/PD studies, not trials of muscle gain, fat loss, recovery or sports performance. [S2] [S3]

Human PK/PD evidence

CJC-1295 no DAC

A 2026 narrative review found no peer-reviewed human studies directly evaluating the no-DAC form. Claims commonly attached to it therefore rely heavily on extrapolation from related GHRH compounds or grey literature. [S10]

Direct human evidence not located

Ipamorelin

Human studies show a measurable GH response and characterise pharmacokinetics. A published phase 2 postoperative-ileus trial did not find a statistically significant improvement in the key efficacy endpoint versus placebo. [S5] [S6]

Human PK/PD + phase 2 evidence

The exact combination

No controlled clinical trial of CJC-1295 plus ipamorelin as a blend was located. The 2026 review describes the pairing as common in off-label discussion but says controlled evidence supporting synergy or meaningful body-composition outcomes is limited. [S10]

A plausible mechanism is not the same as demonstrated synergy. No synergy claim is used on this page because direct supporting evidence for the exact pair was not located. [S10]

Human evidence for each component

The strongest directly relevant human evidence is ingredient-specific. Teichman and colleagues studied long-acting CJC-1295 in healthy adults using two randomised, placebo-controlled, double-blind ascending-dose trials. A separate study assessed GH pulsatility after CJC-1295. Ipamorelin has a healthy-volunteer PK/PD study and later phase 2 gastrointestinal trials. None of these studies tests the marketed blend itself. [S2] [S3] [S5] [S6]

StudyPopulation / designMain finding and limitation
Teichman 2006 — CJC-1295Healthy adults, age 21–61; two randomised, placebo-controlled, double-blind ascending-dose trials.Sustained GH and IGF-1 increases; estimated half-life 5.8–8.1 days. Abstract does not establish performance or body-composition efficacy. [S2]
Ionescu & Frohman 2006 — CJC-1295Healthy men age 20–40; overnight GH sampling before and one week after CJC-1295.GH secretion increased with preserved pulsatility; small mechanistic study, not a clinical-outcome trial. [S3]
Gobburu 1999 — ipamorelinHealthy male volunteers; five infusion-rate groups with eight subjects at each level.Dose-proportional PK; terminal half-life about 2 hours; a single GH-release episode was modelled. Route and setting differ from commercial research listings. [S5]
Beck 2014 — ipamorelin117 bowel-resection patients; multicentre, double-blind, placebo-controlled phase 2 proof-of-concept trial. No statistically significant difference in the key efficacy endpoint or secondary efficacy analyses; condition-specific population. [S6]

The accessible records for several older papers were abstracts rather than full articles. Study detail in this review is therefore limited to what those abstracts explicitly report.

Relevant registered trials

ClinicalTrials.gov records add context but must not be treated as results unless results are posted or a linked publication reports them. Two phase 2 ipamorelin gastrointestinal studies are registered as completed. One has a peer-reviewed publication; the larger NCT01280344 record shows no results posted. A CJC-1295 phase 2 study in HIV-associated visceral obesity was terminated and has no posted results. None of these registries evaluates the CJC-1295 + ipamorelin blend. [S6] [S7] [S8] [S9]

RegistryStatus / populationWhat can be concluded
NCT00672074 — ipamorelinCompleted phase 2; 117 enrolled; postoperative ileus; randomised quadruple-masked placebo-controlled design.Peer-reviewed publication exists; key efficacy endpoint was not statistically significant. [S6] [S7]
NCT01280344 — ipamorelinCompleted phase 2; 320 actual enrolment; gastrointestinal recovery after bowel resection; randomised quadruple-masked placebo-controlled design.Registry shows no results posted; no efficacy result is inferred here. [S8]
NCT00267527 — CJC-1295Terminated phase 2; HIV-associated visceral obesity; planned randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled design. No results posted. Termination is not treated as evidence of efficacy or failure, and the accessible registry does not establish the exact CJC formulation. [S9]

No registered trial of the exact CJC-1295 + ipamorelin pair was located in the targeted registry searches conducted on 2026-09-22.

Pharmacokinetics depend on the exact compound and study route

The most important pharmacokinetic distinction is that the published CJC-1295 human data concern the long-acting DAC form. In healthy adults, its estimated half-life was 5.8–8.1 days. The original rat work linked prolonged exposure to albumin association. Ipamorelin was characterised separately in healthy male volunteers during intravenous infusion, with a terminal half-life of about two hours. These findings cannot be combined into a half-life for the blend, and the ipamorelin result should not be transferred across routes without evidence. [S1] [S2] [S5]

Safety findings and major uncertainties

Safety evidence is limited by small or short studies, different populations and the absence of direct blend trials. The 2006 CJC-1295 abstract reported no serious adverse reactions in its tested healthy-adult studies, but the FDA later identified serious adverse events associated with CJC-1295, including increased heart rate and a systemic vasodilatory reaction, while emphasising that clinical data remain limited. For ipamorelin, the published postoperative-ileus trial reported high rates of treatment-emergent adverse events in both active and placebo groups and described the treatment as well tolerated in that setting; FDA compounding reviews separately highlight immunogenicity, impurity-characterisation and incomplete safety information. [S2] [S6] [S15] [S16]

Short-term CJC-1295 study

No serious adverse reactions were reported in the accessible abstract of the healthy-adult randomised studies. This does not establish long-term safety or safety of other formulations. [S2]

Limited human evidence

Ipamorelin phase 2 trial

Treatment-emergent adverse events were common in both groups in the postoperative study; the trial found no significant efficacy advantage on its key endpoint. [S6]

Condition-specific evidence

Regulatory safety concerns

FDA reviews raise concerns about peptide impurities, aggregation and immunogenicity and state that available safety information is insufficient for some proposed routes. FDA's ipamorelin review notes serious events in the clinical development programme but does not establish that every reported event was caused by ipamorelin. [S15] [S16]

US regulatory assessment

Blend uncertainty

No direct controlled safety study of the CJC-1295 + ipamorelin blend was located, so ingredient safety findings cannot establish the safety of the combination or of a specific commercial formulation. [S10]

Evidence gap

Different sources are not necessarily contradictory: a small short-term trial can report no serious reactions while later regulatory reviews identify additional safety signals from a broader evidence base. Causality and formulation must be considered source by source. [S2] [S15]

UK regulatory and sport context

MHRA guidance states that human medicines in the UK require a marketing authorisation, while a separate legal route exists for certain unlicensed medicines supplied to meet an individual patient's clinical need. Targeted searches of the MHRA product-information route did not locate an authorised medicine named CJC-1295 or ipamorelin as of 2026-09-22; that search finding should not be stretched into a blanket legal conclusion about every laboratory product or every circumstance. In sport, the position is clearer: the 2026 WADA Prohibited List names CJC-1295 among GHRH analogues and ipamorelin among GH secretagogues, within substances prohibited at all times. [S11] [S12] [S13] [S14]

UK medicines

No named UK marketing authorisation was located in the targeted search. 'Research use only' wording is not, by itself, proof of a product's regulatory status in every circumstance. [S12] [S13] [S14]

UK context

Anti-doping

WADA's 2026 list explicitly includes CJC-1295 and ipamorelin in prohibited growth-hormone-releasing categories. [S11]

Prohibited at all times

This section describes regulatory and anti-doping sources; it is not legal advice and does not classify individual supplier listings.

How to interpret research-product listings

For this category, the product name alone is not enough. UK supplier pages reviewed for search-intent and nomenclature purposes explicitly sell no-DAC/Modified GRF (1-29) with ipamorelin, but this does not prove that every listing uses the same formulation or ratio. A useful comparison record should therefore capture each component separately and preserve the evidence for identity rather than collapsing the blend into one total-milligram field. Supplier claims are not used here as evidence of clinical effectiveness or safety. [S18] [S19]

Verify the CJC form

Record DAC-containing CJC-1295, no-DAC/Modified GRF (1-29), or unknown. Do not infer the form from 'CJC-1295' alone. [S1] [S10] [S18] [S19]

Identity first

Record each component amount

A blend total does not reveal the amount or ratio of CJC-related material versus ipamorelin. Store per-component quantities when the label discloses them; otherwise leave them unknown. [S18] [S19]

No inferred ratios

Read analytical evidence narrowly

A purity figure or supplier COA does not establish clinical safety or efficacy. For a blend, documentation should make clear whether identity and quantity were assessed for each constituent and whether the report matches the batch. [S18] [S19]

Testing ≠ clinical evidence
Listing fieldWhat the comparison should requireIf missing
CJC formulationDAC, no-DAC/Modified GRF (1-29), or another explicitly identified formShow as not disclosed / formulation unclear [S1] [S10] [S18] [S19]
Component quantitiesAmount for CJC component and amount for ipamorelin, each tied to the labelDo not infer a ratio from total blend mass [S18] [S19]
Analytical identityEvidence that identifies each constituent and the relevant batchDo not convert a generic purity claim into verified identity [S18] [S19]
Clinical claimsEvidence must match the exact compound or combinationDo not transfer single-ingredient findings to the blend [S10]

A total blend amount does not tell you how much of each compound is present. Compare the stated identity and quantity of both components.

Frequently asked questions

What is CJC-1295 + ipamorelin?

It is a two-component research-blend label combining a CJC-related GHRH analogue with the GH secretagogue ipamorelin. The name does not, by itself, tell you whether the CJC component contains DAC or what ratio of the two compounds is present. [S1] [S4] [S18] [S19]

Has CJC-1295 + ipamorelin been studied as a combination in humans?

No controlled human trial of the exact pair was located in the searches for this review. Human studies were found for DAC-containing CJC-1295 and for ipamorelin separately, which is not the same as evidence for the blend. [S2] [S5] [S6] [S10]

Is CJC-1295 with DAC the same as CJC-1295 no DAC?

No. The original published CJC-1295 is an albumin-binding DAC construct. Material sold as CJC-1295 no DAC is commonly described as Modified GRF (1-29), and the 2026 review found no peer-reviewed human studies directly evaluating that no-DAC form. [S1] [S10] [S18] [S19]

Can the CJC-1295 DAC half-life be applied to a no-DAC blend?

No. The 5.8–8.1 day estimate comes from human research on long-acting CJC-1295 with the albumin-binding DAC feature. It should not be transferred to a non-DAC formulation. [S2] [S10]

What human evidence exists for ipamorelin?

A healthy-volunteer PK/PD study characterised its pharmacokinetics and GH response. Phase 2 postoperative gastrointestinal trials were also registered; the published proof-of-concept study did not show a statistically significant benefit on its key efficacy endpoint versus placebo. [S5] [S6] [S7] [S8]

Is there evidence that CJC-1295 and ipamorelin are synergistic?

Direct controlled evidence demonstrating synergy for the exact pair was not located. A mechanistic rationale or common use together does not demonstrate that the blend produces greater clinical effects than either component alone. [S10]

Is CJC-1295 + ipamorelin an approved medicine in the UK?

Targeted MHRA product-information searches did not locate a UK-authorised medicine named CJC-1295 or ipamorelin as of 22 September 2026. MHRA guidance also provides specific routes for certain unlicensed medicines, so this search result should not be simplified into a blanket legal statement about every product or use. [S12] [S13] [S14]

Is CJC-1295 + ipamorelin banned in sport?

For athletes subject to WADA rules, the 2026 Prohibited List names CJC-1295 among GHRH analogues and ipamorelin among growth-hormone secretagogues in categories prohibited at all times. [S11]

What should a research blend listing disclose?

At minimum, the listing should make the CJC form clear and state each component amount rather than only a total blend mass. Analytical documentation should be matched to the exact constituents and batch. Missing values should remain unknown rather than being inferred. [S18] [S19]
